Taj Mahal Quartzite Kitchen Worktops – Bespoke Kent Project Project Overview

Taj Mahal Quartzite Kitchen Worktops – Bespoke Kent Project
Project Overview

For this residential project in Kent, our clients wanted a natural stone that would become a defining feature of their kitchen while remaining elegant, timeless and practical for everyday use.

They selected Taj Mahal quartzite, which was used throughout the kitchen and utility room, including the island, main worktops, sink areas and window sills. A double ogee edge profile was chosen to add a more traditional, luxurious finish.

From material selection through to templating, fabrication and installation, the Stonewright UK team managed the stonework throughout the project.

Choosing the Stone

Rather than choosing from a small sample, we encouraged the clients to visit one of our trusted stone suppliers and view full slabs in person.

Natural quartzite can vary significantly from slab to slab, so seeing the material at full scale allows clients to appreciate the colour, movement and veining before making a final decision.

The clients chose Taj Mahal quartzite for its soft cream tones, subtle veining and understated natural beauty.

A Consistent Design Throughout

One of the strongest elements of this project was the decision to continue the same stone throughout the kitchen rather than using it only on the main worktops.

Taj Mahal quartzite was carried across the kitchen island, surrounding worktops, sink areas, window sills and utility room, creating a cohesive and carefully considered finish throughout the space.

The positioning of the natural stone was planned during fabrication to make the most of the individual slabs selected by the client.

Double Ogee Edge Detail

The clients chose a double ogee edge profile, which introduced additional detail to the worktops and complemented the classic feel of the Taj Mahal quartzite.

Edge profiles can completely change the character of a stone worktop, so we work closely with clients to select a finish that suits both the material and the overall kitchen design.

From Template to Installation

Once the kitchen was ready, our team carried out detailed templating before the stone moved into our workshop.

The Taj Mahal quartzite was then cut, shaped, edged and finished to the exact requirements of the project, with particular attention given to the double ogee detailing, sink areas, window sills and natural veining.

Our installation team then returned to the property to carefully fit the finished stone.

The Finished Result

The completed kitchen is a beautiful example of how one carefully selected natural stone can bring an entire scheme together.

The subtle movement of the Taj Mahal quartzite, combined with the double ogee edging, creates a luxurious finish without overpowering the room.

Continuing the stone through the kitchen, island, window sills and utility room gives the entire project a seamless, high-end feel.

Returning to the Project

Since completing the kitchen, we have returned to visit the clients, who are now considering the next stage of their home — a bespoke outdoor kitchen and entertaining area.

For us, being invited back to work with an existing client is one of the greatest compliments we can receive.
