Project of the month - FiFi's Pizzera

An exceptional cut of Arabescato Corchia marble, supplied, fabricated and installed by Stonewright UK for FiFi’s Pizzeria in Maidstone, Kent. FiFi’s owner, Ciaran, came to us with a clear vision: to recreate the character and authenticity of the traditional pizzerias he had visited in Naples, Italy. We knew that Arabescato Corchia would be the perfect choice for the space, offering the striking natural veining and timeless Italian appearance that would bring his vision to life.

The choice wasn’t purely aesthetic, marble has long been associated with traditional pizza and pastry preparation because it naturally remains relatively cool to the touch, providing an excellent surface for working with dough. This made Arabescato Corchia a particularly fitting choice for FiFi’s dedicated pizza preparation station.

Ingredients commonly used within a pizzeria, including tomatoes, lemons and vinegar, are acidic and can cause etching when they come into contact with marble. In a high-volume commercial environment such as FiFi’s Pizzeria, where the surface is being used continuously throughout service, correct care and maintenance become especially important.This doesn’t mean marble cannot be used within residential kitchens. Marble remains an incredibly popular choice for homes, restaurants, bars and hospitality interiors, but as a natural material, owners should understand that it can develop character and patina over time.

The finished result at FiFi’s combines traditional Italian inspiration, practical food preparation and statement natural stone, creating a pizza station that feels completely at home within the restaurant.
